Carlo Ang is a first-generation Chinese-Filipino filmmaker based in Boston. He was born in San Francisco and has lived in the Bay Area, San Diego, and New York City. His portfolio ranges from short documentaries to branded content, collaborating with clients like Converse, Warby Parker, and Herman Miller. Carlo’s documentary Nancy has been screened at multiple film festivals including the 2022 Rhode Island International Film Festival, 2022 Boston Short Film Festival, and the 2022 Mass Reality Check-Salem Film Festival, where it was awarded 2nd place. The film is a short story about a mother’s unconditional (and occasionally overbearing) love for her child. His documentary Next Trick was showcased at the 2022 It’s All True Emerson College’s Documentary Film Festival, which is about the mental and physical battle a skateboarder endures to land a trick he's been learning for three years.

As a lifelong skateboarder and self-taught cinematographer and editor, his passion for filmmaking was originally influenced by the skate videos he watched growing up. Inspired by their distinct and scrappy style, his creative approach is practical, playful, and authentic.

Carlo has a BA degree in Communications with an emphasis in Media Studies from San Diego State University, where he studied marketing and new media. He is currently earning an MFA in Film and Media Art at Emerson College.

He always enjoys working with new people and learning new things so feel free to reach out and say hello!
